How can you create a Facebook group

 Facebook, Facebook Group     No comments

A group is meant to be a close circle of people who keep in touch and share on Facebook.

People have different reasons for creating groups on Facebook. Groups may be created around things like:
Topics
Books (think of it like a book club)
Their business (sort of like an "insider's club")
To sell items locally
Exclusive membership site
Support groups

In my humble opinion, there is no "Wrong" topic for a group, it all depends on the reason for which it was created.
How can you create a Facebook group

How can you Create a Facebook Group

1. Find "Add Group"

From your "home page" on Facebook, go to the ''Groups'' section on the left side menu and find "Add Group".

The number of things you have in your ''Favorites'' will determine how far down you have to scroll to see this.

Once you get there, it will look like this: For an even quicker way simply go here: https://www.facebook.com/addgroup

2. Click on "Create New Group"

You'll be taken to a page that displays the option to create a group which also shows you some suggested groups to join.

Begin the process of creating a group by clicking on "Create New Group".

There is an alternative way to create a new group on Facebook:

On the right hand side of the "Create New Group" button you'll notice options to choose "Group Ideas" By clicking on any of these selections (Family, Classmates, Sports Teams or Book Club), you're immediately taken to the ''create screen''  just like if you clicked "Create New Group".

3. Name Your Group

The first thing you need to do is give your group a name.

This name can be whatever you want, and you can change it later but try to create a memorable & searchable name for your group so people can find it.

4. Add Members

You're actually required to add at least 1 friend to the group before you can create it and if you don't you'll get the error message below:

So in order to create your group, you'll need to add at least 1 friend to the group.

5. Choose Privacy Setting

You will need to decide what privacy setting you want your group to have.
This is probably the most essential choice you will make while creating your group as there are some limits to changing it as you progress.
If you have less than 250 members, you will be able to change the privacy settings as you see fit, but as soon as your groups grows to over 250 members, you can only change an ''Open group" to a "Closed'' or ''Secret'', and a ''Closed group'' to ''Secret''. You won't be able to change the privacy again after this. There can be confusion about what privacy setting a group should have -- Open, Closed or Secret.

6. Click Create

After you choose your privacy setting, click on the "Create" button as you've seen in previous images:

7. Choose an Icon

Facebook will now give you the option to choose from a wide array of creative graphics for your icon/avatar. This is completely up to you and bears no significance as far as Facebook is concerned but if you've created many groups or have multiple groups in your favorites, you'll want to choose an icon you can easily identify.

Your group is now officially created!

There are, however, a few more items you can customize.

A. Complete the "About" Section

Your about section is important for 2 reasons:
  1. Gives prospective members an idea what your group is about
  2. Can display any "rules" you may have about the group
So fill it out as you see fit, seeing as this is YOUR group.

B. Choose Group Image Setting

You're given the 3 options here:
use images from group members (will show a maximum of the last 8 active members)
use a photo already in the group
upload a photo
*Keep in mind the dimensions for this cover photo are different from those on your personal Timeline or business Timeline -- they are 801 x 250 pixels.

C. Edit Group Settings

Next you'll want to edit the group settings. You do this by clicking on the gear icon & then clicking "Edit Group Settings":

Once on the edit page, you'll have many options to change:

Items you can change:
  1. Group Icon
  2. Group Name
  3. Privacy Settings
  4. Membership Approval -- Do you want to let anyone add members or should only you be able to?
  5. Set a Group Address -- Here you'll have a chance to give the group a custom url as well as an email address where people could email the group directly

D. Change your Description:

Change Posting Permissions -- Here you can decide if only admins can post or if members can as well
Post Approval -- You can require that all posts be approved by an admin before they go live

Once you're done & happy with the settings, click "Save".
You're Group is Ready to Go!

You've now successfully created a Facebook Group!!

Now you can post updates inside the groups -- and so can members (if you've allowed it).

Group Features to take note of:

1. Notifications- As an admin you should probably turn the notifications on to receive all updates when anyone posts -- just in case someone spams the group & you want to respond quickly.

2. Messages/Chat- One of the great things about groups is you can initiate a group chat/message with either all members of a group or select members. This is especially useful when you have an announcement to make or need to quickly collaborate on an item/issue.

3. Events- A feature probably not used often enough in Groups is Events. Inside the group you can create events that only members can see & RSVP for. Just click on the "Events" tab & then "Create Event" and a lightbox will load to create your event.

4. Files- Inside groups you can share files of any kind as well as create Documents which group members can add to & collaborate on.

Think of this as your own little workspace within Facebook -- or perhaps a replacement for apps like Basecamp or Dropbox.

Now that you've read this post, hopefully you can now successfully create a group on your own.

Facebook now testing paywalls and subscriptions for Instant Articles

 Instant Articles     1 comment

Facebook now testing paywalls and subscriptions for Instant Articles: A few months ago it was reported that Facebook may begin testing paywalls and subscriptions for Instant Articles beginning in October. Well now it’s October, and surprise – Facebook has started testing subscription support for instant articles!

Facebook now testing paywalls and subscriptions for Instant Articles

Here’s how it will work: Facebook will start with two paywalled options for publishers to choose from:

The first option is a metered model where everyone gets to read 10 free stories per month before needing to subscribe. The second is a freemium model where the publishers choose which articles to lock.

When someone who isn’t a subscriber hits one of these paywalls, they will be promoted to subscribe for full access to the publishers’ content.

One really interesting aspect – if you want to purchase a subscription Facebook will direct you to the publisher’s website to complete the transaction, meaning they process the payment directly and can keep 100% of the revenue and transaction data. The subscriptions will then also include access to the publisher’s full site, and existing subscribers can also authenticate within Instant Articles so they can get full access without paying twice.

Redirecting users away from Facebook to complete a transaction is a huge win for publishers. But not everyone is happy with the arrangement. Notably, Recode reports that Apple is balking at the subscription signup flow, saying it violates the company’s rules about subscriptions sold inside apps. Right now Apple gets up to 30% of all subscriptions sold inside 3rd-party iOS apps, so Facebook’s current signup method would strip them of this revenue.

For this reason the feature isn’t launching yet on Apple – only Android, which doesn’t have any restrictions on how subscriptions can be sold. There’s no timeline for when a deal could be made with Apple, with Facebook only saying that “this initial test will roll out on Android devices first , and we hope to expand it soon.”

Facebook says many of their partner publishers identified subscriptions as a top priority, and especially requested the ability to maintain control over pricing, offers, and all the revenue generated from each subscription.

The ten participating publishers at launch are Bild, The Boston Globe, The Economist, Hearst (The Houston Chronicle and The San Francisco Chronicle), La Repubblica, Le Parisien, Spiegel, The Telegraph, tronc (The Baltimore Sun, The Los Angeles Times, and The San Diego Union-Tribune), and The Washington Post.

The tool will roll out over the next few weeks, and one a publisher is on board paywalls and subscriptions will immediately be available to all users seeing those stories.

Facebook tests self-destructing status updates: Facebook is testing self-destructing messages as a way to encourage users to post more status updates.

In a bid to win over users that have moved to more transient platforms such as Snapchat and Twitter, Facebook could add an option for updates that disappear.

Facebook tests self-destructing status updates

Facebook has been testing the "temporary profile status" option for the past week, according to Buzzfeed.

The feature, which has been described as retro, lets users share 101 character updates that are made from text only. Users can opt to make the temporary statuses permanent.

If the social network makes the feature available to all users it could fill news feeds with text updates, making it look more like Twitter or the early days of Facebook.

Back in 2006, when Facebook launched its news feed, users would post real-time status updates. These are now called posts. As videos, photos and links became more prominent, written status updates slowly disappeared from the news feed.

Facebook has been looking for ways to engage its users in real time amid concerns that they are more likely to share on Snapchat rather than its platform.

The company recently launched Stories in Messenger, which borrows from Snapchat's ephemeral quality, in what has been a largely unsuccessful attempt to make its service more immediate. It also launched Live videos, which have proved more popular.

It is not clear when or if Facebook will make the disappearing messages available to all of its users, but it confirmed it is testing the feature.

"We're testing an update that lets people set a temporary status on their profile to let friends know what they're doing or feeling in the moment," said Facebook. "People have the option to set an expiration date for the status and choose whether or not it appears in the news feed or only on their profile."

How to go about Deactivating or Deleting your Facebook account #DeleteFacebook

Deactivate a Facebook account, Deactivate Facebook     1 comment

How to go about Deactivating or Deleting your Facebook account
Here's how to go about deactivating or deleting your Facebook account this year 2017. Take note, "Deactivate" is different from "Deleting". Below are the differences:

Choosing to deactivate your Facebook account means that:

  • You can reactivate the account whenever you want
  • People will not be able to see your Timeline nor search for you
  • Some information like the messages you exchanged with friends may remain visible.
Choosing to delete your Facebook account means that:
  • Access to your account can't be regained once its deleted
  • Deleting your account may be delayed for a few days after you have made the request. This deletion request will be cancelled if you log into your Facebook account during this period of time.
  • Deleting your data in the back-up system may take up to 90 days and for that reason, your information will not be accessible during this time.
  • Some things are not stored in your account. For example, your friend may still have the messages you both shared after deletion of your account.
  • Copies of some materials like your log records may still remain in Facebook's database but they are disassociated from personal identifiers.

#MeToo- Exposing the constancy of sexual assault and harrassment

#MeToo- Exposing the constancy of sexual assault and harrassment
Alyssa Milano was in bed with her two young kids when a friend of a friend on Facebook suggested something that struck her as a great way of elevating the Harvey Weinstein conversation. She took the idea to Twitter, posting: “If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet.”

That was Sunday night. By Monday night, more than 53,000 people had left comments and thousands of women had declared “Me Too,” sharing their stories of rape, sexual assault and harassment across social media, including some for the first time.

The hashtag was then tweeted nearly a million times in 48 hours, according to Twitter. Most people just simply left it at,: “Me Too,” without explanation, and a small contingent of men have posted: “I Have,” noting shock at the groundswell and remorse for their own past misdeeds Milano said the idea was to elevate the Harvey Weinstein conversation, laying the emphasis on victims rather than perpetrators and offering a glimpse into the number of women who continue to be victimized. The disgraced film mogul has been accused by over three dozen women of harassment or abuse.

“My hope is people will get the idea of the magnitude, of just how many people have been affected by this in the world, in our lifetimes, in this country,” Milano said in a phone interview with The Associated Press on Monday. “The most important thing that it did was to shift the conversation away from the predator and to the victim.”

The posts have gathered steam beyond Twitter. On Facebook, there were more than 12 million posts, comments and reactions in less than 24 hours, by 4.7 million users around the world, according to the company. In the U.S., Facebook said 45 percent of users have had friends who posted “me too.”

A similar social media trend emerged in 2014. “Yesallwomen” posts also had women talking about their experiences with sexual harassment and sexism. While Twitter had fewer users in 2014, this hashtag was tweeted 1.2 million times in four days. Additionally, Tarana Burke, a youth activist, started a “Me Too” campaign in 2007 to let other sex abuse survivors know that they were not alone.

Lauren Taylor hopes “Me Too” grows into something more than a passing hashtag. She also shared her own story as well.

Growing up in Washington, D.C., she recalled near daily street harassment, from men yelling vile things at out of car windows to boys chasing her as she rode her bike. A longtime women’s activist, the 60-year-old Taylor founded a training organization 20 years ago called Defend Yourself, helping women learn “empowerment defense” to ward off physical and emotional attacks in all aspects of their lives.

“The ‘Me Too’ thing has had a positively transformative effect that is more complex than people probably thought in the beginning,” Taylor said. “Women are disclosing that they’ve been harassed, attacked or abused, sometimes for the first time, and if it isn’t for the first time, it’s for the first time this publicly. The sheer number are unbelievable, and a lot of men are saying, ‘Really, that many?’”

From New York where she now lives, 30-year-old Texan Aly Tadros added her voice on Facebook.

Evoking “Me Too,” she said she was sexually assaulted at 19, by a bar owner years older than she was in her hometown of Laredo. He had money and connections. Despite that, she went straight to the hospital, where police were called. She pressed charges but in the end he struck a plea deal that included court-mandated therapy, probation and a letter of apology.

Tadros, a singer-songwriter, considers herself among the lucky. She had the help of an advocacy organization in navigating the legal system. She could afford counseling. Still, she feared the stigma, choosing to keep the attack under the radar both personally and professionally in the beginning.

“Most survivors don’t press charges and I totally understand that, and those that do rarely make it past the grand jury,” Tadros said. “But I know I don’t have anything to be ashamed of.”

Marya Jansen-Gruber, a 47-year-old book editor in Ashland, Oregon, has spoken to people about her rape in the past, but never on social media, where she also joined the “Me Too” movement.

“I think I’m speaking out now because of the current political climate. Now more than ever people around the world, men in particular, need to see what we women have to deal with. They need to see that there is a problem that must not be denied or hidden,” she said. “I’m raising a daughter who is going to have to deal with many of the same problems that I face. The situation in this world for women is not improving as much, or as fast, as it should.”

Martha Armstrong, 69, in Wilmington, North Carolina, knows that firsthand, speaking out on social media for the first time about a range of assault and harassment spanning decades.

“I was raped by a stranger when I was 20 years of age when I worked and went to college in Atlanta,” she said. “That was almost 49 years ago and, at that time, the advice du jour was ‘Don’t tell anyone!’ But I did. I reported it to the police. In addition to raping me, he also stole my driver’s license, student ID and the cash I had in my wallet. This happened on a Friday. On Monday, he called me twice at work and I freaked out and broke down. I took a week off work and a month later my boss fired me because I was ‘too nervous and jumpy’ at work. Plus, I wouldn’t sleep with him.”

Much of her frustration stems from how little has changed in the details of stories recounted by younger women, she said.

Of her own rape, Armstrong recalls the first thing she was asked by police was “What were you wearing?”

“I was in a pea jacket in my car,” she said. “That’s still happening. What difference does it make what I’m wearing? Something has to change.”

Milano also said she has a “Me Too” story as well, but she chose not to share it at this time, hoping to put the focus on others.

“Really what’s happening here is giving women the opportunity to come forward without having to go into detail about their stories if they don’t want to,” she said. “To see the numbers go up minute by minute, I get tears in my eyes thinking about it.”

#MeToo- seeing beyond the hashtag

 #MeToo, Facebook     1 comment

#Me too.
#MeToo- seeing beyond the hashtag

I remember your faces. Your hands. Your words. Your eyes. Your “jokes”. Your entitlement. Your nearly-masked rage. I remember your magical thinking that “we’d shared a moment” and your attempts at damage control to ensure you weren’t discovered. I remember getting ready for work, trying for the umpteenth time to dress for success without seeming too sexy. Calculating how to be confident enough to get the right kind of promotion-worthy attention but not too confident to entice you. I remember wondering when you’d take your hands off me. Or when you’d just back away. When you’d stop talking. Or leering. Or seeing me as yours. And then there are all the times I’ve nearly forgotten, so normalized they became mundane.
I remember never not knowing that you were out there. Somewhere. In a bar in Mexico when I’d mistakenly walked away from friends. Or a doctor’s office in college while I was sick and suffering. Or in an office building donning perfectly pressed pants. Or at a party when I’d let my guard down. Or on the street as I dared to pass by.
I am angry but I am not afraid. Because I know that you no longer have the power. That you are outnumbered and outflanked by good, grace and grit. That a powerful light is shining and it will find you no matter what dark crevice you slither into. That I am not alone. That we stand together. And that good, love and truth prevails.

Delete your fb account - Deactivate My Facebook account Right Now!!! #DeactivateFacebook

         Deleting Facebook     No comments

Delete your fb account - Deactivate My Facebook account Right Now!!!: With this super comprehensive guide, we will show you how to delete or deactivate your Facebook account temporarily. This article is here to help you leave Facebook permanently. See How to Deactivate your Facebook account.
Delete my fb account right now

What Happens When You Deactivate or Delete Facebook Account

When you are leaving Facebook, you have options to choose from; deactivating your Facebook temporarily is one of them, another is deleting or closing your Facebook account permanently.

The option of recovering your Facebook account is open to you if you choose to deactivate your FB account, but you should tread with caution if you choose to delete or block your Facebook account permanently because the chance of recovering or regaining any data or information from your account will not be available to you in the future: when once you delete or block your FB account, all your photos, videos, etc will be gone and you can't get it back.

Our advice to you is, if you have made up your mind, endeavor to download and back up your FB information (photos, videos, etc) because, you never can tell when you are going to need it.

Facebook has made it clear that it will take about 90 days (roughly three months) for its team to wipe off all your photos, videos, posts, likes, comments, messages, and everything else concerning your account off from their server.
