How to make your Facebook private

Facebook, Make Facebook private     No comments

Facebook is a wonderful tool you can use in keeping in touch with old friends, family and anyone else you care to talk to. But that digital freedom comes at a cost: your privacy. Fortunately there are ways to make sure that only the people you want to see your Facebook profile can – unless of course somebody knows your password.
The steps to making your Facebook private is actually relatively easy once you familiarize yourself with the increasingly bloated user-interface. So where do you begin? Read on.

1. Privacy Shortcuts
There are two easy ways to get to the necessary privacy settings of your Facebook profile. In the top right, you will see a button to the right of your name – it has a padlock sign on it and three horizontal lines. Press it and then select 'See More Settings' at the bottom.
How to make your Facebook private
On the other hand, you can click the little cog settings button located in the very top right next to the aforementioned Privacy Short button and then select "Settings" from the drop-down menu. The end result is exactly the same in either case. Now you can set your privacy to your standard.

2. Who can see my stuff?
Under the Privacy Settings and Tools heading you will see three questions in bold letters: "Who can see my stuff?", "Who can contact me?" and "Who can look me up?". Let's start with the first heading on the list.
i) "Who can see your future posts?": click the edit button on the far right. Select who you want to see your future Facebook posts from the drop-down menu. Naturally, public will be the opposite of private so set it to "friends" if you only want Facebook friends to see them.
How to make your Facebook private
Also you can select "only me" if you want only yourself to see what you post, or click "Custom". Custom allows you to select specific options including "Don't share with", meaning you can choose a particular Facebook friend or friends you no longer wish to share posts with. You can also block lists you are a part of, such as a school network.
If there is a post you want to limit the visibility of, the "Review all your posts and things you're tagged in" setting located below allows you to do just that. Hit the "activity log" button and use the pen edit button to delete specific entries you no longer wish to share.

ii) Who can contact me?
If you want to stop getting messages in your inbox from people who aren't your Facebook friends, you can use the message-filtering option under "Who can contact me?". Switch it from basic filtering to strict filtering to only see messages from friends in your inbox. Doing so will keep random messages from strangers at bay.

iii) Who can look me up?
Maybe you want to limit who can look up your Facebook profile. The "Who can look me up?" options allows you to set your privacy to your preference in this regard. With friends enabled, only your friends can look you up using your email address.
The same options can be said for your phone number i.e., if you entered one into Facebook. Again, you can select the friends option for the highest level of privacy.

Finally, you can choose whether search engines such as Bing and Google can be linked to your Timeline. A simple tick box option is all it will take to really shut your Facebook profile off from the world wide web. As Facebook states, this option can take a while to come into effect so don't panic if it seems like you are still coming up on search engines.

Do you want ultimate privacy?
To really ensure your privacy, there is always the option of leaving Facebook entirely. Of course, this is a drastic course of action but something like online bullying could force your hand (in which case, you should seek support). Or maybe you are just tired of sharing everything so publicly.

Facebook tests self-destructing status updates

 Updates     1 comment

Facebook tests self-destructing status updates: Facebook is testing self-destructing messages as a way to encourage users to post more status updates.

In a bid to win over users that have moved to more transient platforms such as Snapchat and Twitter, Facebook could add an option for updates that disappear.

Facebook tests self-destructing status updates

Facebook has been testing the "temporary profile status" option for the past week, according to Buzzfeed.

The feature, which has been described as retro, lets users share 101 character updates that are made from text only. Users can opt to make the temporary statuses permanent.

If the social network makes the feature available to all users it could fill news feeds with text updates, making it look more like Twitter or the early days of Facebook.

Back in 2006, when Facebook launched its news feed, users would post real-time status updates. These are now called posts. As videos, photos and links became more prominent, written status updates slowly disappeared from the news feed.

Facebook has been looking for ways to engage its users in real time amid concerns that they are more likely to share on Snapchat rather than its platform.

The company recently launched Stories in Messenger, which borrows from Snapchat's ephemeral quality, in what has been a largely unsuccessful attempt to make its service more immediate. It also launched Live videos, which have proved more popular.

It is not clear when or if Facebook will make the disappearing messages available to all of its users, but it confirmed it is testing the feature.

"We're testing an update that lets people set a temporary status on their profile to let friends know what they're doing or feeling in the moment," said Facebook. "People have the option to set an expiration date for the status and choose whether or not it appears in the news feed or only on their profile."

How to go about Deactivating or Deleting your Facebook account

Deactivate a Facebook account, Deactivate Facebook     1 comment

How to go about Deactivating or Deleting your Facebook account
Here's how to go about deactivating or deleting your Facebook account this year 2017. Take note, "Deactivate" is different from "Deleting". Below are the differences:

Choosing to deactivate your Facebook account means that:

  • You can reactivate the account whenever you want
  • People will not be able to see your Timeline nor search for you
  • Some information like the messages you exchanged with friends may remain visible.
Choosing to delete your Facebook account means that:
  • Access to your account can't be regained once its deleted
  • Deleting your account may be delayed for a few days after you have made the request. This deletion request will be cancelled if you log into your Facebook account during this period of time.
  • Deleting your data in the back-up system may take up to 90 days and for that reason, your information will not be accessible during this time.
  • Some things are not stored in your account. For example, your friend may still have the messages you both shared after deletion of your account.
  • Copies of some materials like your log records may still remain in Facebook's database but they are disassociated from personal identifiers.

The option of recovering your Facebook account is open to you if you choose to deactivate your FB account, but you should tread with caution if you choose to delete or block your Facebook account permanently because the chance of recovering or regaining any data or information from your account will not be available to you in the future: when once you delete or block your FB account, all your photos, videos, etc will be gone and you can't get it back.

How to Delete the Facebook Page 2018

How To Delete The Facebook Page 2018

Possibly it's your college guy's horrible punk band or web pages you made in 7th quality like "Spinny Chairs Are Awesome!!!" as well as "I Love Justin Bieber" that have in some way resurfaced on your adult on the internet dating accounts. If you're swamped with notifications from old web pages, it's most likely time to clean out those sorts.

Right here are a few straightforward means you can remove on your own from an old Facebook page you do not wish to be related to anymore.

How you can remove a Facebook web page
The first step to removing a Facebook page is identifying if you are an admin for that web page. Holding the admin title for a web page is the only means to have accessibility to erasing pages. If you aren't an admin, you will certainly have to demand accessibility from someone who is-- as well as they may not be inclined to grant you access if you intend on right away removing the page.

            1) The best ways to erase a Facebook page using desktop

Most likely to the drop-down arrow in the top-right edge of your Facebook homepage and pick the web page you want to erase. In the instance below, I'm choosing my own writer web page, entitled "Kristen Hubby."

As soon as you get on the web page, click Settings in the menu bar at the top.

Scroll to the bottom of the "General" section in your setups, and click "Eliminate Page." Click "Remove (Page Name)" and also you will be triggered to validate.

Removing the page implies it will not be public any longer, as well as there will be a 14-day period where you can recover it if you would love to bring it back to life.

            2) Ways to delete a Facebook web page by means of phone or tablet

Open your Facebook application. When you have the application open, most likely to the page you wish to remove as well as touch the 3 "..." in the top right corner.

A pop-up food selection will certainly appear; faucet Edit Settings. As soon as you are in your settings, go to General and scroll to the bottom of the page.

The last option as a whole will ask if you wish to remove the page. Faucet Delete [Page Call], validate your choice, and also say goodbye to that page. (It's a lengthy farewell considering that you still have the 14-day waiting period.).
